ACE
LAUNCHES NEW CONSUMER HEALTH RESOURCES IN TIME
FOR COLD AND FLU
SEASON
The Alliance for Consumer Education to Launch New Interactive Educational
Resources
For Parents and Families.
Washington,
DC (October 6, 2008) - The Alliance for Consumer Education
(ACE) today launched four new rooms on its interactive website www.StopGerms.org and
at the same time, unveiled a 3-Dimensional version of StopGerms.org
in Second Life, a virtual online community. The launch of ACE’s
educational resources coincides with the start of the cold and flu
season across the United States.
ACE’s
StopGerms.org, is an award-winning website aimed at educating consumers
on ways they can help keep their families healthy through proper
hygiene practices within the home. Included in the new expansion
to the popular interactive site are four new rooms: The Garage,
Foyer, Study, and Living Room.
Consumers can click on objects in each room such as doorknobs, carpets,
toothbrushes, or counters to see which germs are hiding or lurking
on each item. A second click of the mouse lets consumers know more
about each of the germs and educates them on steps they can take
to help protect their families from germs and the diseases they cause.
At
the same time, ACE also launched a 3-Dimensional version of its
Stopgerms website in Second Life, a virtual online community. Visitors
to ACE’s “Consumer Education Island” will be able
to learn more about the non-profit educational foundation and virtually
tour the house and interact with the various germs spread throughout
each room.
“ACE
is helping parents and families understand the threat of exposure
to those germs that can cause colds and flu. At the same time,
these two new resources will help us reach so many more consumers
in order to make them aware of the steps needed to minimize that
threat and protect their families,” said Joseph M. Healy,
President, Alliance for Consumer Education.
